A Balanced life - what does this look like to you?


We know that Balance in our lives is so important for our mental and physical wellbeing!

We certainly know what an unbalanced life looks like. It's associated with tiredness, stress, burn-out, lack of creativity and lack of enthusiasm. We also know that when we are unbalanced, we are more prone to angry outbursts, frustration, and impatience – we can all name a few!


It’s the “Healthy Mind Platter” that helps us with “the HOW” - to regain a healthy balanced life, to optimize our brains and well-being. In Neuroscience, this concept has been developed by Drs Siegel & Rock, as a helpful illustration to understand the components needed for a healthy mind.


Much like we think of “A healthy balanced diet” of food for our physical bodies. A Healthy Mind Platter contains the vital activities that we need to daily include in our lives, for health and mental well-being!


My daughter (above) inspired me, how in her busy life, she manages to combine Physical time and Play time and sometimes some Down time too.


These are the 7 activities to make time for each day:


Sleep: Ensuring you get enough quality sleep.


Physical time: Physical movement and exercise.

It has a profound effects not just on your physical health, but your brain health too.


Focused time: Time to work on something that has your full attention.

Being completely immersed in a task.


Connecting: Social friendships and support system. Also connecting with nature!


Play time Provides time for novel activities that get you laughing and having fun!


Down time This is inactivity! Disconnecting! Chilling out! Daydreaming.

Putting your feet up and lazing!


Reflection time: Connecting with your internal world.

Mindfulness, awareness of self, your emotions and thoughts.
